Over on Reddit, one user attempted to use a stopwatch to time how long it took the Trauma Team to arrive during the first gameplay reveal for Cyberpunk 2077. After announcing their arrival to the scene in 3 minutes, Krimzonboi discovered that the heavily armed medics arrived in only 1 minute and 5 seconds.

The post actually caught the attention of Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the original Cyberpunk tabletop adventure, who jumped into the conversation to provide some insight into who the Trauma Team actually came to be. When a player is dying during the game, Pondsmith created the Trauma Team to be able to save them much faster than a traditional healer of cleric could.

The idea to have them arrive via the AV4 vehicle came from a paramedic friend of Pondsmith who would always complain about other drivers getting in the way of the ambulance on call. Naturally, it was always easier to get to a scene via a helicopter instead. The helicopter idea was the inspiration behind the Trauma Team’s ability to quickly arrive on scene in 3 minutes (or less) to save the player from harm.

For as much goodwill as CD Projekt RED garners with the fanbase, things may not be as solid as it seems internally. According to an anonymous former CDPR developer, Cyberpunk 2077 has had a rough development cycle with more than a few parallels to what BioWare went through with Anthem. Considering the trouble Anthem has gone through since it launched, it’s certainly a worrying comparison. It goes without saying that fans would likely hope that Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t follow in its footsteps.

Cyberpunk 2077 has no release date but is targeting PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
